New Riverside flood defence along the Thames using clay bunds

At Thamesmead, different solutions were chosen to create the Flood Defences. Some were traditional paved walkways with balustrades built on top of sheet piling tied back with tie bars, with ramps to take pedestrians over the Flood Defence level. This different approach uses a clay bund which is then moulded to create a semi-natural landscape. The planting used native species, and the paths gently undulate up and over the flood defence.
